CHANDIGARH 
  • Chandigarh is a city and a union territory in India that serves as the capital of both neighbouring states of Haryana and Punjab.
  • It is one of the early planned cities in post-independence India and is internationally known for its architecture and urban design.
  • The basic planning of the city is a Sector to accommodate 3000 to 25000 persons.
  • It was planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier.


  • It was planned focus on
                         - Urban design.
                         - Hierarchical road network.
                         - Conservation of building and open spaces.
  • He replaced the native indian town into superblocks, introduced Grid-iron pattern.

CHENNAI
  • Though Chennai partially planned city but it does not have any grid design system.
  • K.K. Nagar (shortened from Kalaignar Karunanithi Nagar) is a small township located in the southern part of Chennai, India.
  • It was a locality developed in the 1970s and early 1980s along with the neighbourhood of Ashok Nagar covering a total area of 7 sq km.
  • It is organized by sectors and streets, and there are 15 sectors, and around 102 streets.
